I think the reading said to me is people believe when in eyewitnesses. There are other accounts about Jesus circulating and he is aware of them. Being written by a believer for the purpose of confirming belief. Luke then tells the story of Gabriel's visit to Mary, informing her that she will soon have a virgin conception by God. she didn't at first but she go to have to believe because their no eyewitness.
I think that Zachariah was surprised when he found out that his wife Elizabeth was having a child named John. This is similar to Mary's story about her having a child named Jesus. Jesus and John are similar in this gospel because the angel Gabriel said that the people of God will follow them and their teachings.
So first luke chapter 1 mentions the birth of john the Baptist. His parents name were Zachariah and Elizabeth. At the time Zachariah was a priest for King Herod and his wife was a descendent of Aaron so they both were righteous in the eyes of God. They followed the lord's Commandments no problem. And they were trying to get a baby and Elizabeth was unable to conceive. So one time an angel came and told him that his prayers were answered and she is able to conceive. The angel explains what his name going to be and how great he's going to be. But then he wouldn't be able to talk until he was born. And at the end of the day he was born and Zachariah was able to speak again.
Luke 3-4 The chapter talk about Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came to John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. And all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Try to tell that god is real. Ask the question who was the son of God. Christ's being led into the wilderness gave an advantage to the tempter.Satan's promises are deceitful and if he is permitted to have any influence in disposing of the kingdoms of the world and the glory of them. Christ will not worship Satan.Christ taught in their synagogues, their places of public worship, where they met to read, expound, and apply the word, to pray and praise.Christ's preaching much affected the people
Luke 3-4 These chapters tell me that John the Baptist is doing his duty to spread the word of God and that Jesus is mot tempted by the devil to teat his faith. Also Jesus prepares to preach at synagogues by going out into the desert and that he will not depart from people. What John is telling us in Luke's gospel is that the baptism of repentance wipes away our sins and we should bear fruit that is worthy of repentance.
William Adedeji Religion 2 Goose The Gospel of Luke, which we now begin, contains many precious things which are not recorded in the other three Gospels. Such, for instance, are the histories of Zachariah and Elizabeth, the angel's announcement to the Virgin Mary--and, to speak generally, the whole contents of the first two chapters. Such, again, are the narratives of the conversion of Zaccheus and of the remorseful thief--the walk to Emmaus, and the famous parables of the Pharisee and Tax-collector, the rich man and Lazarus, and the Prodigal Son. These are portions of Scripture for which every well-instructed Christian feels peculiarly thankful. And for these we are indebted to the Gospel of Luke.
Luke 5-6 Christ preaching to the people out of Peter’s ship, for want of a better pulpit. The passage of story fell, in order of time, before the two miracles. Christ’s exposition of the moral law, which Jesus came not to destroy, but to fulfill, and to fill up. Christ’s disciples ought not to be nice and curious in their diet, at any time, especially on sabbath days, but take up with what is easiest got, and be thankful. Jesus Christ will justify his disciples when they are unjustly censured, and will own and accept of them in many a thing which men tell them it is not lawful for them to do. Jesus Christ, though he allowed works of necessity on the sabbath day.
Luke 5-6 In this part of the gospel of Luke, Jesus encounters a fisherman named Simon. Simon is worried because hasn't caught any fish all day. Just then fish were caught in Simon's net and it surprised him and his partners James and John. When they brought their ships to land, they followed Jesus because they believed that he helped them with there problem. IN Luke 6, when Jesus was finish praying in the mountain, he came out and chose his apostles. When he chose them, he gave them messages about if they do good then they will have great things in heaven.
Luke 6-7 In Luke 6, Jesus chooses his disciples when he had finished praying in the mountain. In Luke 7, he says that John the Baptist is the greatest prophet and that all the people were baptized by him except for the Pharisees and lawyers who rejected the counsel of God.Also when Jesus went into a Pharisee's house because he was invited by him, a woman who was a sinner cleaned Jesus' feet with her tears. Jesus says to her that her sins are forgiven and to go in peace.
Luke 8-9 In the verse, it came to pass afterward, that Jesus went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. Luke's portrayal of Jesus' Galilean ministry continues to focus on the issue of Christ's authority, but now the attention turns to the responses to that authority. Jesus' authority through a series of miracles, starting with Jesus' control of nature and moving to demon exorcism, healing and then a resuscitation. Jesus has authority over everything. Shows Jesus extending his authority through the commissioned ministry of his disciples. Jesus instructs the disciples about the special nature of the time in which they live. It is not a time of judgment but of invitation.
Luke 8-9 Jesus cured a man of the within hi man and told him to go home. One story is that he fed five thousand people by blessing what they had and giving each to each person. When Jesus went to a town, people were amazed from his presence. One woman touched his garment and was healed immediately. When Jesus noticed this, he asked the people who touched him. When the healed woman admit that it was her, Jesus told her to in peace. Lather in Luke 9, Jesus says to his disciples that if they lose their lives for him then they will save it. Jesus tells them this so that they can understand that he Son of God much suffer before his ascension into heaven.
My first response when some do something wrong to me is why did the person did that to me in the first. Then, I will try look back what I did wrong to that person. What cause that person to done that to me. This my own problem to solve so told no one. In the end, I will forgive or not, when I not forgive that person does mean I go to treat that person differently.
Luke 14-16 In Luke 14, Jesus had supper with the chief Pharisees and reminds them to keep the Sabbath Day. The Pharisees don't exactly understand what Jesus is trying to say to them so he uses parables to explain it better. People today can relate to this be remembering that Jesus uses parables to bring us closer to God. In Luke 15, Jesus uses the parables of the lost sheep and the parable of the prodigal son to explain the Pharisees and scribes why he has ate supper with sinners. In Luke 16, Jesus tells his disciples parables that will remind their of their faith and to keep the commandments.
Luke 17-18 In the parable of the persistent widow, a poor, powerless person (the widow) persists in nagging a corrupt, powerful person to do justice for her. The parable assumes John the Baptist’s teaching that holding a position of power and leadership obligates you to work justly, especially on behalf of the poor and weak. The purpose of the parable is to encourage Christians to persevere in their faith against all odds. We must never give up hope, and never stop working for the greater good.
Luke 18-19 Jesus goes into a village with ten lepers. He visited each of of them and to them to go show themselves to the priests. With this they all were cured. One of the cured lepers turned back to Jesus to glorify God. Jesus told him to go on his way because his faith has made him whole. Jesus also says to his disciples to remember the days of the Son of Man for they will not see it. In Luke 18, Jesus uses parables to show others how to rise again and how to enter the Kingdom of God.
Luke 20-21 Jesus telling of the parable is one of many scenes in a longer series of stories set in the temple, in which he frustrates and accuses various members of Jerusalem's religious leadership. Jesus announces that the owner of the vineyard will annihilate the tenants and give the vineyard to others. Jesus is speaking of future events. Jesus is saying that, once the events of the end times begin, they will happen quickly.
